This is one of those rare occasions that I actually agree with Jesse Jackson to some extent. The firing seem more politically motivated than race based. It seemed like NPR was growing tired of Juan Williams double dipping by working with Fox. NPR could have handled this better by simply not renewing his contract when it expires, and not comment about williams needing psychological help. But, NPR does hold its employees to a different level of accountability and you are not able to express your true opinions. Jackson tries to compare it to the Shirley Sherrod incident, but the President apologized to her. The firing had a lot more behind it than just the comments that Juan Williams made.

Shirley Sherrod was clearly in the innocent. Juan Williams had his coming. The comparison made by Jesse Jackson is hardly a comparison. The only thing I see that is relate able is that both decisions were made in immediate response. Williams could have been more conscious on how he made his comment and NPR could have been more professional with the firing of Williams.

politically motivated or not Williams was guilty and Sherrod was not therefore these issues are not similar at all. Williams deserved to be fired and Jackson's comments had no validity.
